Welcome to Barrera Marketing

Let me start by introducing myself:

Hi There- I am Jackie B.

First and foremost, I am a Mother to 3 amazing Children. 2 boys and a girl.

Question: Can you still say “children” if they are 18, 19, and 25?

A Wife for over 20 years. It’s not always rainbows and butterflies. However, we choose each other every day.

My family is My life.

My children have all grown up to start their own lives.

I have decided to work on myself.

Going to become a SOLOPRENAUR

Going to be in business for myself but not by myself. (more about this at the bottom of the page)

Presently I am an Uber eats Driver.

I make my own hours and with daily work -daily pay.

The only difficulty with this is … I don’t have a boss yelling at me to keep working. After a couple of hours and not getting the tips that I want or think I am entitled to. I think to myself this is good for today. I will work more tomorrow. It is so easy just to stop working. I am not obligated to stay the whole 4 hours or 8 hours. That is my struggle.

I was a Delivery driver during the Christmas season for a contracted Fed Ex company.

UPDATE: I had to leave because after some family emergencies I said that I wanted to leave and if there was someone that could take over my route. They said ” no one was available. It’s not like a normal job where when you are not feeling good you can just leave.

You are responsible for the contents of that truck and making sure they get delivered. Granted I could have taken the truck back to the hub. However, that would have looked bad for the independent company I was working for, and in turn, look bad on me.

Let me tell you what I have learned from being a Fed Ex Delivery driver

I have a new respect for delivery drivers. This was hard work- delivering packages to houses.

Jumping in and out of the trucks. ( Be careful with this. Lots of seasoned drivers complain of knee problems)

Carrying packages to the door. Trying to do 200 + packages by the time it gets dark.

(most of the drivers RUN to finish early)

Let me give you super shoppers a tip: It is super hard to see house numbers in the dark-FYI maybe an illuminated house number for those of you who order a lot of items online would make it easier on the drivers.

I have also been a School Bus Driver-

I have a new respect for teachers.

In the mornings I would get to the bus barn. Gather the items I needed for the day.

During covid- this was hand sanitizer and disinfectant. Before covid. only garbage bags.

I would have to Pre-trip the school bus. to make sure everything was in working order.

Example- tires, oil, belts, doors, windows, lights, and everything else on the bus. You do this before and after the routes.

I only had maybe 20 minutes per grade with the children driving them to school they were still very sleepy.

Probably had a late night of homework, watching TV or Social Media.

But in the afternoons. Taking them home. They were totally different children.

Stuck in a room/school for 5-7 hours. The Tiger was released from the cage.

(Very hard to contain the beast)

The High Schoolers were okay- Very chatty and most were on their phones.

Middle schoolers. They are a bit louder

Want to switch seats all the time. ( trying to PULL ONE OVER ON THE BUS DRIVER)

The Elementry School is a different story. They are Jumping, Climbing, and Throwing papers. Punching Fighting Bullying… I don’t know how the teachers deal with them for 5-7 hours… I only had them for maybe 10 and I was ready to pull my hair out.

* I don’t remember my 3 children being this unruly, but they say all children are different when the parents are not around…

I have a new respect for teachers

Trying to watch the road and make sure they were in their seats and not doing anything inappropriate.

But I have to say there were some that melt would your heart. They were the sweetest thing. Some days I really miss them

Many School Districts are Hiring School bus drivers
